Tennis players ready for semi-finals

The Selection Park Tennis Club championships are in full swing and players are eager to show their worth on the tennis court.

The weekend games resulted in Kyla Yelverton, Eben Mare, Peter Stoltz and Rynhardt Knoetze going through to the singles semi-finals.

The results of the games played on Saturday are as follows:

Daniel Myeni beat Logan Stoltz 6-1, 6-4 and Nici Matic beat Scott Wiggill 6-4, 6-3 in Match A in the men’s singles.

In the men’s singles backdraw Duncan Gall beat Emilio Pinto 6-4, 6-2.

Eben Mare and Rynhardt Knoetze beat Rudolph Pretorius and Ferdi Robbertse in the men’s doubles 7-6, 6-3.

In the mixed doubles, Ernst de Wet and Deidre Vrey beat Pierre Vrey and Dainke Vrey 6-1, 6-1.

Kyla beat Palesa Mbjotja 6-0, 6-0 on Sunday.

The rest of the results are as follow:

Eben beat newcomer Prince Dhlamini in three sets 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 in the men’s singles.

Peter beat Ernst de Wet 6-1, 6-3, while Rynhardt beat Nici Matic 6-0, 6-4, also in the men’s singles.

In the men’s doubles John Cunha and J Reed beat Duncan Gall and Mick Hurst 6-2, 6-4.

Duncan and Mick Hirst beat Scott and Mike du Toit in another men’s doubles game 7-6, 6-3 in Match B.

Duncan and Mick beat Ryno de Lange and his daughter Kanika de Lange 6-2, 6-2 in the mixed doubles, while Kyla and Rynhardt beat Logan Stoltz and Mieke de Lange 6-1, 6-1.
