Pollak Park’s weekend of league golf

On Saturday Pollak Park Golf Club hosted its handicap league golf games.

Tee-off time for the morning game was 7am.

The following are the results for the morning game:

Pieter Roets and Riaan van Rensburg came in first position with an overall score of 46 points on count out.

Their runner-ups, Willem van Wyk and Koos du Toit, came in with 45 points on count out.

The afternoon game saw the club’s league team beat the South African Police Services team.

The tee-off time was 12.05pm and saw the following results at the end of the betterball game:

Clinching first position, were Cliff Carr and Frikkie Mynhardt, who obtained 46 points on count out.

Coming a close second were Derek Waters and Ian Stewart with 45 points on count out.

Sunday’s Individual Point Stableford (IPS) games saw the following results:

In first place was Mark Whittington with 42 points.

He was closely followed by Mike Chandler, who came in second with 38 points.

Third position was secured by Steve Malloy, who obtained 35 points on count out.

“A great week and weekend was had by all,” says Rachel Howard of the club’s pro-shop. “It is definitely warmer to play golf out in the winter sun, than to be sitting inside a cold house.”

The rest of the results for the week are as follows according to each competition type, according to their respective days of the week:

Wednesday’s IPS games:

Gawie Steyn came first with 37 points, followed by Jan Steyn who obtained 35 points on count out.

Thursday’s pensioner’s competition:

John Wright came first with 36 points, and his runner-up, Tony Storror also obtained 36 points.

Friday’s meat competition:

In first position was Chris Olivier with 37 points.

He was closely followed by Gavin Bryson with 36 points.

Hannes Dempsey was best front nine with 19 points and best back nine was Gerhard Gibson with 24 points.
