Combat Zone Kickboxing Club had 17 selected students who represented the Eastern Gauteng team at the South African Kickboxing Championships finals recently held in Pretoria.

Of these students two junior fighters were selected for the National Team and two junior fighters were selected for the President Team to represent South Africa in the World Championships in Dublin, Ireland in August.

“We are still waiting for the senior team selection to be announced,” says Wessel.

The club also recently entered 11 junior students for the Clash of the Tiny Titans competition hosted by Xtreme Kickboxing Technologies.

“We are extremely proud to have brought home 12 gold, seven silver and two bronze medals,” says Wessel.

Wessel’s son sensei Ivan Marais, says he is pleased with the commitment of these students.

“The instructors have a passion for martial arts,” says Ivan.

The instructors dedicate four evenings per week to the training in Springs and Sundra clubs.

The students practise on Mondays and Thursdays from 6.30pm to 8pm, at the Springs Indoor Sports Centre in South Main Reef Road, Springs Extension.
