Local golfers support Sanlam Cancer Challenge

Springs Country Club hosted the Sanlam Cancer Golf Challenge where 66 golfers competed in the IPS format competition on Saturday.

This annual event is being played over three months at all the clubs in South Africa.

According to Ayanda Ngcofe, from Cansa, this is golf’s biggest charity drive in the fight against cancer.

A lot of amateur golfers compete at their local golf clubs with the aim to raise money for Cansa as well as to try and qualify for their respective regional finals.

The winners of the regional finals, which will be played from July to August, will then qualify for the national finals to be played at Sun City from October 9 to 12.

The shared spirit of golfers being proactive in the battle against cancer is what encouraged the players to enjoy the warm autumn day on the golf course.
