Multiplayers’ friendly not so friendly

Welgedacht Stadium hosted a friendly game between the Multiplayers’ U-11 team and their U-15 team, in preparation for the Eastern Local Football League game against Dinoko Football Club.

Kick-off was at 1pm, and saw the Multiplayers U-15s and U-11s go head-to head in their friendly but very competitive home game.

“This is a practice game, in preparation for our big upcoming match against Dinoko Football Club,” explained Thabo Maqala, who facilitated the match for the day.

The first half saw the Multiplayers U-15 team demonstrating a spirit of camaraderie, but fierceness in their defense against the U-11s.

The starting line-up saw the talented and skilled U-15 team attack confidently as they went for the kill.

This led to the first goal of the game, which was scored by Koketso Motshwene, towards the end of the first half.

The second half saw the U-11s taking a more defensive stance in their approach, which they carried until the end.

The U-15’s Koketso Motshwene, however, came back into the spotlight with another goal, which sealed the victory for the U-15s.

The final score was 2-0 to the U-15s Multiplayers, who celebrated their victory with the famous “diski-dance”.

“This, of course, was a friendly match, but it gives us a good idea of the progress the boys are making,” explained Maqala, “so now we know how to approach our away next game and can counter our weaknesses and maximise the strengths each side has.”
