U9s play until the end

The U-9 Springs Old Boys’ soccer club played a home league game against the Benoni Young Stars on Sunday.

Kick-off was at 9.30am and the Young Stars did not waste any time as they scored their first goal within minutes of the first whistle.

Goal scorer, Mohammed Paruk, of the Young Stars saw the spectators excitable at his stellar first goal.

The Old Boys worked hard to try and score, while defending their goal.

Unfortunately, without hesitance, Asher Gwaze of the Benoni Young Stars came in with a second goal much to the delight of his fellow teammates.

Asher did not waste any time, as he went in for his second goal of the match, which sealed the fate of the first half with a score of 3-0 to the Benoni Young Stars.

The Old Boys tried their utmost best to redeem themselves in the second half of the match as they played tirelessly to score what was their first goal of the match.

It was Callum Mcallister who scored for the Old Boys and redeemed their confidence as they played a better game overall, towards the end.

“At least the boys are playing a better game now,” said a parent, who positively reflected on Callum’s goal.

Although Old Boys did their best, the fate of the Benoni Young Stars was sealed when Ethen Meiring scored the fourth and final goal for his team.

This left the overall score at the end of the match at 4-1 to the Benoni Young Stars.

It was a very challenging game for the Old Boys’ u-9 side, but the parents were confident that the players would redeem themselves in the next game.

“It will be better next time,” echoed a parent from the sides of the soccer field.
