Stefan loses Cape Town fight

One of Springs' professional EFC fighters, Stefan 'Mr Kick' Pretorius fought his fourth professional fight in Cape Town on April 22.

Fighting against Bruno ‘The Major’ Mukulu, Stefan lost the fight on points, making it his second loss in his professional career.

Stefan, who trains out of the Rio Grappling Club in Springs, says his opponent seemed a good challenger to him before the fight.

“He definitely lived up to that standard,” he says.

He explains that they had a three-round war and went the full distance of the fight which then had to be scored on points.

“It was also the only fight that night that went the full length, it proves that both of us are tough fighters because we couldn’t beat each other.”

Stefan says he went for the aggressive approach in the first round and tried to wrestle Bruno, who came out with good technical defense.

“His good defense cost me the fight and he also got the edge on me because I got tired from the wrestling.”

He adds that his opponent was calm in the second round and landed a lot of low kicks which scored him many points.

“By the third round I was extremely tired and tried my best to finish the fight.

“The final round ended and Bruno did just enough to impress the judges and won the fight on points.”

Stefan says the result was disappointing after a hard training camp.

“Not getting your hand raised is not the best, but I’m not standing down.

“I’m already back at training, doing what I can to better myself and work on my mistakes, getting fitter and waiting for the call from EFC for my next fight,” Stefan concludes.
