Taljaard family take up golf
After careful consideration, Ivan (45) and Anina (37) Taljaard decided to go for golf lessons at the Springs Country Club.
Their golf academy trainer, Johannes Geldenhuys (29), has been training their son Zhaar Taljaard (9) for more than a year and was hoping the golf bug would eventually bite the parents as well.
According to Johannes, Zhaar is a fast and brilliant student.
“For the first six to eight months we only concentrated on the techniques and then on the application thereof,” says Johannes.
Ivan claims he does have some golf background, but his knowledge is somewhat rusty.
Anina, in contrast, has no golf background, but says she enjoys the lessons very much and has learnt a lot.
Ivan and Anina are happy with their progress and say they currently concentrate on the short game, which includes chipping, putting and the golf swing.
“We appreciate Johannes’ patience with us, and also the intense training sessions,” says Ivan.
“It is indeed a sport that brings families together and the game is not just for men,” says Anina.
She feels it is important to spend quality time together as possible and enjoy the fresh air.
They plan on spending as much time together as possible, even on the golf course.
Ivan says when they are on the golf course, they manage to focus on the sport and clear their minds of everyday stresses.
