FC pockets his first gold

A young Springs resident and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) fighter won his first gold medal on March 12.

FC Zeelie (10) took part in his first BJJ tournament in Pretoria East where he won his first-ever medal in any type of sport.

Proud coach and professional EFC fighter, Stefan Pretorius, says FC started with the bully guard program at Rio Grappling Club in Springs in October last year.

“The bully guard program focuses on BJJ techniques for children to defend themselves without using power or being violent and to build self-confidence,” says Stefan.

“FC was so successful that he started to pursue the sport of BJJ.”

Stefan adds that this experience was life changing for FC.

“I am extremely proud of him and know he will do well.

“We will continue training hard and long for FC to become a greater fighter than he already is,” he concludes.
