On Saturday the Springs Rugby Club hosted a rugby day at Olympia Park with 22 teams participating in the event.

Rudolf Cronje, the club chairman, says the day was all about fund-raising, talent scouting and preparation for the Falcon league starting in March.

“Eleven games were played and the atmosphere was awesome,” says Rudolf.

The teams are all preparing for the league games which start on March 5 and which will see Springs playing against Nigel.

The fund-raising event helped the club to raise funds for jerseys as well as the maintenance of the club.

Saturday was a fun-filled day with music, food and fun available for all the spectators.

The U21 Springs team won their match against the Brakpan rugby team and the second team also took the top honours against Edenpark.

The first team played against the Johannesburg Police first team and won their game too.

Rudolf is feeling confident about the upcoming games and the league and he is grateful for the support the teams have at each game.

The Springs teams will play against Sasolburg in Delmas on Saturday.
