Springs’ big win

The first team of the Springs Rugby Club played a tough game against Boksburg on Saturday.

The game kicked off at 3.50pm with the crowd cheering for both teams.

After just 12 minutes, Boksburg was in the lead with 7–5.

Johan Zondag scored the first five points for Springs.

Anton van Deventer scored another try for Springs 32 minutes into the game with Dawie van Niewenhuizen rounding it off by completing the conversion.

This put the score at 14–12.

At this stage of the game, tensions were high between both the crowd and the players, as they went head to head for the title of victors.

In the second half, 50 minutes into the game, Riaan Botha scored another try for Springs, with Dawie scoring the conversion and putting the score at 19–14 for Springs.

Springsites cheered the roof off in support of their local team.

Boksburg’s many supporters spurred on their team and kept them going strong.

Both teams’ defence was strong, making it nearly impossible to get through to the try line.

Pierre Foord, with the help of his team members, managed to break through the defence line and score a try for Springs and put the score at 24–14, 60 minutes into the game.

Springs and Boksburg battled hard the last 20 minutes, with Springs trying to keep their lead and Boksburg fighting to make up points.

In the last few minutes of the match, Pierre Foord broke through and scored yet another try for Springs, which put the final score at 31–19 for Springs.
