Renstia and Marinda get Protea colours

Two sisters climbing the karate ladder.

Sisters Renstia (15) and Marinda Roetz (13) recently represented Gauteng in the South African National All Style Karate Championships, held at Wits University.

The siblings are students of the Michael Roetz Karate Institute, situated at Springs Old Boys Club, and are coached by their father, Sensei Michael Roetz.

Renstia is also assisting her father with the new karate students.

Michael is the Ekurhuleni, Gauteng and Protea coach and also serves on the coaching commission of Karate South Africa through the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC).

He says he is proud of his two daughters’ achievements.

Renstia and Marinda recently received their Protea national colours and qualified for the Zone Six Sub-Saharan Africa International Karate Tournament, which will take place in May, in Durban.
