Wheelers ready for Ride for Sight

Springs Wheelers is an integral part of the organising committee of this event.

Springs Wheelers cyclists will take part in the Dis-Chem Ride for Sight cycle event on February 14.

For 26 years the club has been part of Retina South Africa since the inception of the race in 1989.

Race secretary Claudette Medefindt says Springs Wheelers play an integral part of the organising committee.

“Mike McBeath, Paul McKernan and dozens of the club members help on the day of the race.”

Club member Ray Roodt says this is a very important race for the club in terms of fund raising.

A new thing this year is that a few Wheelers riders will be taking blind passengers on tandems on the 60km race.

“You don’t have to know a blind person we will find blind stokers for you,” says Ray.

Anybody with a tandem or who has access to a tandem who wants to join the group can contact Ray Roodt on 082 900 5185.
