Colts are the best

On Sunday the Springs Old Boys (SOB) Cricket Club Colts team challenged Daveyton in a league match at the club.

SOB won the match by bowling Daveyton out for 63 runs.

Lionel Joubert, chairman of the SOB club, says all the bowlers bowled well.

Rickus Neethling bowled three overs, two wickets for five runs.

Keagan Meiring bowled two overs, two wickets for nine runs.

Gustav van Heerden bowled two overs, one wicket for three runs.

Kyle Dabner bowled two overs, one wicker for six runs.

Cullen Botha bowled two overs, one wicket for seven runs

Ashton Rudolph bowled two overs, one wicket for 13 runs.

Lionel says it was a good all-round performance by the Colts team, with good fielding resulting in two run outs.

Good catching in the field had Daveyton with their backs against the wall from the start.

With 63 runs the opening batsman made light work of chasing the total down.

Johan Maritz had 35 runs from 26 balls and Gustav van Heerden 20 runs of 24 balls.

Both batsmen were not out and made sure the team won by 10 wickets.

The Premium side played a highly contested match against CBC in Boksburg but lost the match by three wickets

SOB scored 178 runs.

Jose van den Berg with 51 runs and Barry Ingels with 29 runs were the top scorers.

Lionel says, with outstanding bowling performances by the following two bowlers, they did not make it easy for CBC to win the match.

Franco Marais bowled 10 overs, two maidens and four wickets for 29 runs.

Jonothan Woolley bowled 10 overs, two maidens and two wickets for 21 runs.

In Saturday’s first league SOB played against Kempton Park.

Batting first SOB scored 179 runs with Riaan scoring 36 runs and Gerhard 45 runs.

With a good bowling attack from SOB, Kempton was bowled out for a 147 runs.

SOB won by 32 runs.

In Saturday’s fourth league SOB played against Nigel and won by five wickets.

Nigel scored 134 all out; Sob went past the score with 5 wickets still standing.

Jempton Chinyengetere 39 runs not out and Chris Childs 28 runs not out.

Russel Edwards contributed 25 runs with his bat.

The bowlers picking up wickets were Claudio Cattelino with seven overs four for 29 and Brett Mostert with seven overs three for 15.

Chris Childs bowled five overs two for 29.
