SA Nationals archery champ

Robyn Barrows (18) won the Vegas Style Shoot Archery Indoor competition held recently.

This competition was introduced to South Africa for the first time this year and was held in Pretoria.

It was her first record in a competition and she is proud to have won the competition for South Africa.

She received a medal and a certificate at the prize giving which was held after the competition.

During the recent SA Nationals, which was an African Bowhunting Organisation competition where they shot at 3D animals, Robyn had to shoot at a bear angled at 45° and shot her personal best.

She says the competitors get 20 3D targets where they have to shoot one arrow at the target.

The highest score an archer can get is 11 and the lowest, five.

Robyn believes skill is important during these competitions as the targets are at different angles and in different places.

The nationals were held over two days and on the first day all the archers shot with range finders on a flat range.

According to Robyn all the animals are straight forward, a category which is her favourite.

During day two all the people with range finders shoot in the mountain at very weird angles and places which makes it more fun.

Her medal and certificate will find a special place among her other rewards against the wall in her room.
