Senior cricket cancelled due to rain

Rain prevented play for the senior teams of Springs Old Boys' (SOB) cricket teams on Sunday.

The Colts side did start their match on Sunday morning and after half an hour of play rain cause the match to be called off.

All the matches on Sunday the Premier, Prem Reserve and Directors were all rained out without a single ball being bowled.

The senior teams on Saturday all played their matches.

The results are:

The fourth league won by 4 wickets,against Actonville, who scored 125 runs.

The SOB bowlers picking up wickets were Raymond Matthew (5 overs 3 wickets for 24 runs), Chris Childs (7 overs 2 wickets for 17 runs) and Gustav van Heerden (6 overs 1 wicket for 14 runs).

The batsmen, Chris Childs (28 not out), Berkely Edwards (28) and Raymond Matthew (24) scored the runs.

Junior results:

U/8: SOB won against United Cricket Club.

Ruan Immelman scored 27 runs.

Wian Pieters bowled 3 overs for 6 runs 0 wickets and Marnus Lezar 3 overs 3 wickets for 11 runs

U/10 A: SOB lost against Wattville, with the best batsmen being Divan Immelman scoring 78 runs of 42 balls.

U/10 Super: SOB bowled Duduza out for 62 runs.

The best players were Bernard Pieters (3 overs 3 wickets for 9 runs), Duhan du Plessis (3 overs 1 wickets for 13 runs).

Raymond van Blerk (28) and Bernard Pieters (25 not out) scored the most runs.

U/12A: SOB lost by 15 runs against United Cricket Club.

SOB’s best bowlers were Ruan Grobler (2 overs 2 wickets for 5 runs) and Dylan van Zyl (3 overs 1 wicket for 10 runs).

The batsmen who scored the runs are Christie Neethling (40 runs) and Dewan Snyman (25 runs).

U/12 Super: SOB won by 110 runs against Duduza.

SOB was sent in to bat first.

The opening stand of 142 runs between the two opening batsmen Neill Joubert (82 runs of 41 balls) and Nathan Steyn (83 not out) and Nico Grobler (30 runs) set the platform for a good score when SOB scored 247 runs in 25 overs.

The good bowling by opening bowlers Eckhardt Lewis (3 overs 3 runs for 2 wickets) and Jarryd Schmidt (3 overs 9 runs for 0 wickets) and Luhumo (3 overs 6 runs for 1 wicket) allowed SOB to restrict Duduza to only 135 runs in 25 overs,

U/14A: Won against Tsakane, after SOB had a slow start with wickets regularly falling.

Anro Janse van Vuuren (26 runs) and Marcell Swart (16) got SOB to a total of 167 runs.

Rico van Rooyen picked up two wickets and good fielding 4 run outs and tight bowling by the spin bowlers ensured that SOB won the match.

U/14 Super: SOB played against Duduza and scored 174 runs.

The batsmen were Rubin Greyling (39 runs), Kyle Meiring (25) and Benjamin Scott (26 runs).

The bowlers who made sure that Duduza was bowled out for 30 runs were Keagan Lindsky (3 overs 3 wickets for 7 runs), Dean Delaney (2 overs 2 wickets for 6 runs) and Sheldon van Zyl (2 overs 3 wickets for 6 runs).
