Stealers beats Benoni Indians

With only eight players, Stealers travelled to Benoni for the game.

Springs Stealers baseball team beat the top of the log team, Benoni Indians, this weekend, 6–2.

With only eight players, Stealers travelled to Benoni for the game.

Being the visiting team the Stealers was required to bat first, facing Ryan Timmerman the pitcher for Benoni.

They started well with two hits but couldn’t capitalise as Benoni got all three outs leaving the bases loaded.

Benoni then went in to bat and Stealers pitcher Chris Stone struck out the first two batters.

Benoni managed to score on a single and a walk, making the score 1–0 to Benoni.

In the second innings Stealers was all out quickly as playing with only eight players the ninth batter is automatically out.

Benoni also had a short innings as they went out with a catch, a strikeout and a ground-out.

Stealers batted great in the third innings, scoring four runs off of a hit batter, a single, a two base hit and a long three base hit by Jules Tancrel.

Benoni had no answer as Chris struck out their next three hitters, making the score 4–1 to Stealers.

Stealers started the fourth innings in the same vein as the third scoring another two runs off of four singles and Benoni turned to Jason Tucker to take over the mound, but still did not score as their last hitter was struck out with the bases loaded.

Stealers was once again affected by the ninth batter being out and could not score, but Benoni also could not score as their top order where all put out without reaching first.

The Stealers struggled with the new pitcher and though batters reached base they could not score as Jason struck out three.

Benoni managed to get another run in the bottom of the sixth bringing the score to 6–2 to Stealers.

Stealers could not answer as the three outs got made with two strikeouts and the ninth auto.

Benoni went in to bat for the last time needing only four runs, but Stealers shut them out and won the game.
