Brave cyclists face the cold weather

Not even the cold weather could stop regular cyclists taking to the roads

With the cold spell in full swing, only a small group of Springs Wheelers’ cyclists faced the cold on Saturday.

Ray Roodt, club chairman, says only a few of them were brave enough to cycle in this cold, but they are all dressed in their appropriate gear for this race.
The cyclists cycle every Saturday at 7am, departing from Bike Scene in Selcourt, to prepare for stage races and also group races.
Ray would like to register a charity again this year for the annual Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge, but the organisers have changed the rules a bit.
He uses a cart behind his bicycle to tow his daughter Kerryn Roodt, who was paralysed after she was shot during a hijacking a couple of years ago.
“You now have to have 20 entrants for a charity before it can even be registered,” he says.
If anyone is interested in joining the charity please enter the race as normal and then send your ID number to Ray to get the procedure started.
If registered with the charity, cyclists can still start in the seeded group if they want to.
If anyone is interested in the charity ride, please send your details to ray.roodt@gmail.com.
Anyone interested in joining the club can contact Ray on 082 900 5185.
