Adonè dreams of Wimbeldon

At first glance, Edelweiss resident Adonè Kidson looks like a normal six-year-old girl.

With a bubbly and charming personality it is easy to misjudge this young lady.

As soon as she steps onto the tennis court she exercises a concentration well beyond her years.

Adonè started playing tennis at the age of five for her school, Christiaan Beyers.

She is still too young to compete in competions as yet, but she one day dreams of competing at Wimbeldon.

Adonè also dreams of being the next Serena Williams.

Her role model is Pippa from the Afrikaans television show Binneland, because she is always friendly and is a positive person.

Adonè practises at the Selection Park tennis court four times a week.

“If we don’t go she gets very upset,” says mother, Annetjie Kidson.

“Sitting in front of the TV irritates her, after she does her homework she’ll grab a ball or her skipping rope and play, she is always busy with something.”

Adonè also enjoys dancing, swimming, ballet, netball and athletics and is a busy and bright young girl.

“Her heart is in everything she does, she’s very dedicated,” says Annetjie.

According to Annetjie, if Adonè can’t nail a technique she will practice it until she gets it right and does not give up.

Annetjie says that Adonè even practises her swing in the car on the way to practice.

Adonè will be attending a tennis clinic in Port Shepstone from April 1 until April 4.

It is clear that this unassuming little girl has the world at her feet and she is not going to slow down any time soon.
