Cedric to ‘Dominate’ at EFC27

“I love the discipline and dedication that goes with being a martial artist.”

He may dominate in the cage, but at home five-week-old Caylee has her daddy, Cedric ‘The Dominator’ Doyle (29), firmly wrapped around her little finger.

The doting dad, and loving husband of Ilse, has been a professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter for the past two years and has been involved in the sport for four.

Aside from MMA, ‘The Dominator’ is well versed in judo, wrestling and kickboxing, which he says prepared him well for his move to MMA.

“The move to MMA was a natural progression from judo, wrestling and kickboxing because this is where I believe I excel. It’s what I am good at.”

Cedric is currently training for his next fight when he will be taking on Boney Bukaka in an EFC Africa promotional fight at Carnival City on February 27.

“I have won my last two fights with first round stoppages. Hopefully after this fight I will get a main card slot and will be able to challenge for the South African bantamweight title by the end of the year,” he says of his goals for this year.

Within five years he would like to become a champion fighter before helping to train other cage fighters reach the stars.

“I feel I have a good seven years of fighting left in me. During that time I want to build a good record, name and brand. I definitely want to open a club once I have finished fighting professionally.”

Cedric comments he loves MMA as it keeps him fit and focused. This focus is evident when considering that he holds down a full time job as a quality assurance quality control officer at Sasol in Secunda, is a devoted family man and still finds time to make the one hour drive to the East Rand three times a week for training.

He currently trains with Raymond Phillips and Louwrens Botha out of Xtreme Kickboxing Technologies (XKT) in Brakpan and Jurgen Putter at Rio Grappling in Springs.

Cedric believes that much of his success is due to the support of those around him.

“I would like to thank God for gracing me with an awesome life, and send a special thanks to my coaches, family and training partners for their help and encouragement. I am also grateful to XKT for being such an awesome management team.”

With fighters like Cedric and training partner Francois Groenewald on the EFC 27 bill for February 27, Springs residents are encourage to come out and support their home town fighters.
