Cedric dominates in EFC 24

This month's EFC Africa 24 was jam-packed with intense fights, one of which was the bantamweight fight between Springs fighter Cedric Doyle and Marino Cutendana.

The fight got off to a good start with Cedric gaining the advantage early and getting his opponent to the ground within the first two minutes of the first bout.

Being one of the quickest fights of the night, Cedric was able to defeat his opponent in 4:30 of the first bout, ending the fight with his first win, and only second fight ever in the EFC Africa competition.

Cedric first entered the competition two months ago at EFC 22, where he lost his fight to Nkazimulo Zulu.

“Cedric did extremely well. He was composed and calm and he kept to the game plan. He did well and I’m very proud of him,” says Cedric’s trainer at Rio Grappling Club, Raymond Phillips.

“I am very happy with my win, I couldn’t have done it without my team behind me. My opponent did very well, all the guys in the EFC are great fighters. There are no easy fights, I was just the better fighter on the night,” says Cedric.

The rest of the fights were as eventful and exciting, with a few highlights making the night memorable.

One of the highlights is Craig Ninow’s broken nose after Nkazimulo Zulu’s drop kick to Ninow’s face, which won Zulu the fight.

And then there was the incredible ability of Dricus du Plessis to counter his opponent JC Lamprecht, putting him in a leg lock that popped his knee cap, causing him to be taken out of the cage on a stretcher.
