Resident says state of George Sutter Park is unacceptable

Because there are no toilet facilities at the park and all the littering that is taking place, this park will soon become a health hazard and a rubbish dump.

Dr Paul Joubert writes:

I want to make my voice heard loud and clear about the noise pollution and littering that is taking place on weekends, and now also during the week, at the duck pond park in Selection Park.

We live a block away from where these people drink, party and litter over weekends, and these people just do not care about the people living in the neighbourhood.

It used to be such a quiet, clean neighbourhood where all could enjoy and make use of the park.

Because there are no toilet facilities at the park and all the littering that is taking place, this park will soon become a health hazard and a rubbish dump.

This is really unacceptable.

My solution is for the metro to strongly consider putting up a fence around the park with a gate activated by a card system for paying members of the community.

The money can be used for the upkeep at the pond.

This will also help in that other people will not come from somewhere else to litter, make a noise and disturb the peacefulness of the neighbourhood.
