We appreciate that another survey will be done in 2019/2020.

Why wait till then when the public is giving the council the input as we encounter the problem everyday?

In the past five years, schools have been built, houses have been built at Grootvlei and the Springs Mall has been built.

The road to the Payneville Clinic leads through that intersection and not forgetting 1 100 RDP houses that are being built on the corner of Grootvlei and Welgedacht roads intersection.

The motorists, taxis, trucks from Bakerton, Slovo, Welgedacht, Delmas, Sundra, Enstra and many other towns are commuting daily on the Grootvlei Road to go to the mall, school, Pick n Pay, factory industries in Strubenvale, Daggafontein or to the N17 highway and vice versa using the same road to get back to their destination.

Heavy duty trucks coming from Leslie, Secunda and many other towns are also using the Grootvlei Road to get through to Sappi, Impala, hospitals and other destinations.

It is a nightmare to cross over at the intersection because the Welgedacht Road is very busy at all times, being a dual road and when there is mist and fog with low visibility and with no robots.

It is a curse.

This has caused many major accidents.

There are no street lights on Welgedacht Road adding woes to our problems.

Having said all, how much more input will the council require?

How many more lives lost or maimed will be compromised?

The public is frustrated and running out of patience for one more life lost or maimed is one too much.

I hope and trust the council, to whom we entrusted our faith, will take our grievances in a serious light and treat them as a matter of urgency and not keep us waiting until 2019/2020.
