Visitors!

Usually when mom comes home after being away she tends to relax a bit and take some time to smell the daisies and play ball with me.

Not so this time.

She was frantically tik tikking on her laptop thingy – and several times gave me my ham-covered pills late.

Not that I mind when she does this because she always grovels and gives me tidbits and dishes me extra special love – even if it was only 10 minutes late.

Then she started cleaning house.

Looked at her… Eish – really? Is this necessary?

The Thunderdog is loud enough – seriously do not need to have to cope with that noisy vacuum cleaner too.

Sorry Fudges – she scratched my ear – it’s very necessary. We are having visitors.

Visitors?

Don’t be ridiculous!

Our house is already full of big kids

What visitors? And where are they going to sleep?

But mom just shook her head and carried on making lots of noise.

I got a tad more concerned when my Ems emerged from her garage cave and started helping.

Stomped off to the stoep and lurked under the table – but was not safe there either.

Then I really started to worry when my boy Luan joined in the fun.

Chunky chop bones!

Who was so special that the whole house had to shine?

Mom even made cookies, although those nearly got demolished before the visitors even arrived.

Did you ever… it turned out that Alpha’s parentals from the farm had come to visit.

Luan let them sleep in his room and he bunked on the couch in the lounge.

Heard a lot of somethings about Australia.

Australia – hmmm – looked at mom – can I eat it?

Is it tasty?

Don’t be silly Fudgie, mom replied.

Australia is a place – like Cape Town – where Granma lives.

Thought about it for a bit… can I go too?

Absolutely not Fudge – mom replied.

We’d miss you too much.

So the house was even more shambolic for a couple of days – and I had to watch where I parked off in case somebody tripped over me.

We even went for a nice long walk in the veld – so long my back toenails got sore and I had to wear socks for a while!

They’ve long since gone and mom tells me they arrived safely and are having fun.

Without me – how rude!
