Ratty Ralph!

Hah! That Ralphie got himself into a spot of bother the other day.

Some time ago he came home with a bit of hair missing on the top of his head.

Mom had words with him, then swabbed him down with that yucky pink stuff she keeps specially for when we get into scrapes.

He does not like it any more than I do.

Fortunately the last time I was on the receiving end of being swabbed was when I had manky elbows when I was sick last year.

She knows if there were tooth marks on the top of his head – there were probably some more somewhere else.

So she went looking.

Nothing.

Ralph was not impressed with having his furry bod scrutinized in such a manner and stomped off in a huff.

Then his ears started getting a bit iffy looking.

Mom got out the pink stuff again and to his utter disgust gave him another swab.

But this time she swooshed the cotton wool all around his ears and it came up all bloody.

Eeergh! Sies. Ghah.

Mom nearly had a heart attack.

She had a closer look behind his ear and her heart nearly attacked her a second time.

She screeched for Alpha – quick – get the cat box – Ralph needs to go to the vet.

I looked at him.

Yah! That will teach you to behave like a hooligan.

Cats’ claws are the most incredibly dirty things and when they fight, infections are rife.

Abscesses spring up overnight into great bulging blobs of yukkyness!

Off they went with Ralphie looking very sorry for himself behind bars.

They came back later without him.

Looked at Mom.

Oi! Where’s our cat?

She explained that he needed to stay at the vet for a while to get sorted out.

The vet would call when he could come home.

Sure as bones are bones, that vet did call.

Mom politely enquired if I would like to go with to fetch Ralph.

She said I could hop on the scale and see how much more weight I had lost.

Shook my head – hell no!

I’m thinking not here.Uh uh.

Alpha agreed.

He reckoned it was a tad hot for a little doglet to be in the car.

Ralph arrived home with most peculiar haircut…looked a bit like a Mohawk gone wrong.

He’s okay now.
