Alcock family will miss Springs

Debbie and Wally Alcock from Selection Park write:

“The time has come, the Walrus said, to speak of many things.”

So many many things and memories after 57 years in Springs, 48 of them living in the same home, and 27 years of that time working at a Real Estate agent.

And now the time has come for Wally and me to cherish those memories as we sell our very happy family home in Selection Park and move on to another town and into a smaller, more manageable property as befits us very senior citizens.

Happy memories were relived by the recent letters from your readers remembering Springs in the old days.

I suppose 1959 can qualify as “the old days” and what happy experiences they evoked.

But the most meaningful have been the privilege of working as an estate agent, which has given me the opportunity to meet so many wonderful, interesting and courageous people.

I will always value the support and co-operation and friendships we have made over the years.

Our sincere thanks go to the principals I have worked with, both for them or as peers who have trained and shared their knowledge with me, our efficient and helpful conveyances and their staff; my co-operative colleagues in the industry and the bond originators who have worked tirelessly to achieve successful sales; my loyal, productive and clever staff, agents and helpful friends, who have worked with me in real estate over the years.

And most particularly our thanks to the very many men and women who have bought and sold and listed their properties with me, many of whom have remained friends.

It has been a rewarding and fulfilling 57 years and Wally and I thank you all.

We will miss Springs.
