Trim those trees

As a caring senior who regularly walks from Wit Road down Fifth Avenue to do my shopping, I observed the trees on both sides of the road are in desperate need of pruning and cutting back.

At some stage last year the parks department started from 12th Street up towards Casseldale, but stopped after doing a few.

I would like to bring an awareness that there are trees being eaten by termites that could fall at any time, next to the fencing of the retirement village.

I am concerned about children on the side walks and people who could be injured by falling branches or trees, as I observed that the one that fell in front of the Advertiser was infested with insects.

Could the parks department be alerted to this problem to do maintenance and also do a survey of the paving on the side walks which are being overtaken by grass and weeds.

The debris from cut grass in the road, if not removed, will enter the storm drains as the refuse waste has done already.

Trusting that attention will be given to Fifth Avenue as our main road into town.
