Vegetable prices are too high

Am I the only one who has been in a supermarket of late and found the price of vegetables to be ridiculously high?

How are we as middle class citizens expected to survive?

I personally cannot afford to pay R30 for a cabbage that is no bigger than my palm.

I fully understand the crisis our country is in but that does not change the fact that the price of fruits and vegetables is too expensive and unaffordable.

We need to feed our children daily with these necessary foods yet we are not able to anymore.

The price has increased and the size has decreased.

How many people will rather just cut vegetables out of their diet before paying for them?

I am considering this as I don’t make nearly enough money to buy fruits and vegetables for my whole family.

Or do we eat it in turns? One night, my husband and the next night my children?

I get worried about the state of our country if mere middle class people are struggling to afford the basic nutrients.

I will have to start growing my own vegetables in my small backyard if my family wants to survive this spike in veggies prices.

Supermarkets are going to feel this more than us folk eventually, if everyone starts their own gardens then we won’t need to stand in aisles moaning about prices anymore.
