Looking forward with hindsight

Never think you wasted your time if you failed, it's a learning curve.

Some might say it’s looking back and living in the past.

I say different.

Looking back with hindsight, I think about the bad decisions I’ve made and the wrong roads I’ve taken, and I don’t cling to it, I review the consequences of those actions and then I know what not to do in my present and for my future.

Reminiscing on the good and reflecting on the bad is how, in my opinion, I can remain positive and always try to make the right decisions from past experiences.

And I was fortunate enough to come across quite a few of these bad experiences.

I say fortunate because, although hard or painful at the time, I have grown into the person I am today due to these experiences that made me stronger and able to handle unpleasant or distressing things that life throws my way.

How does the saying go? What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, right?

Well, this is true ten times over.

I’m not saying I want bad or difficult things to happen (note to boss), that would be ludicrous.

But if they do come across my path, I’ll have the knowledge and support to be able to get through it and come out even stronger on the other side.

You can never gain enough life knowledge as each and every situation is different, perhaps with slight similarities to those of the past.

And listen to older people, they have been through this.

I’ve recently had one of these experiences and barely coped, until one of my strongest pillars of strength (mom) sat me down and spoke to me, and told me that it will pass.

She said that life works like a circle, it slowly goes to the top and everything is just going great and fits perfectly into place, and you couldn’t be happier.

Then gravity does its thing and pulls the wheel down and things start going haywire, and you feel a little overwhelmed.

Then you get to the bottom and you feel the world is against you, and nothing seems to be going the way it’s supposed to and your on the point of giving up.

The wheel moves up again, it may feel longer than the decline, but it’s not, and it’s going, slowly, but going.

And you are out… a stronger person because of it.

Never think that you wasted your time doing something and then failing at it.

Because when you try again, you know what didn’t work the previous time and you are that much closer to success.
