Pathetic municipal services

Due to the postal services' strike being in such dire straits, with no solution in sight, we, the taxpaying public have to deal with an even more pathetic municipal service.

No mail, no accounts, no SMS informing of outstanding balances to enable us to keep our accounts up to date.

Similar to what we receive from doctors.

We are merely advised by the municipality in this newspaper that we must pay an average amount monthly to avoid penalties.

Recently I received a final notice outstanding amount R713.72 plus “cost of notice” R92.34 delivered in my mail box at home.

For us pensioners this is not a small amount to pay for the municipality’s absolute ‘initiative challenged’ staff’s incompetence.

They cannot use the same private company staff delivering these final notices, to just put the actual accounts in the relevant mail boxes in the first place, too much to ask.

This is absolutely a shocking way of stealing the taxpayer’s hard-earned money.

I am disgusted to think what has happened to the upkeep and maintenance of our once clean, well organised, beautiful, friendly little city called Springs.

All the ‘spring’ has gone to waste and we are left with only a few organisations like the Addie to try and save face.

Good luck to all of you who still have pride.

Liza Fraser.
