Getting to know Springs

Doing the impossible - familiarising myself with Springs' streets.

One of the most challenging tasks I had to undertake yet.

As a newbie at the Addie, I find myself more ‘rigting bedinges’ than ever.

Never having really ventured into the Springs area, I am breaking more traffic rules than a taxi driver.

Driving down a one-way in the opposite direction and completely freaking out when I realize that this does not look right, is not something I’d want to relive again any time soon.

Cars honking and people being able to do surprisingly fluent “sign language” is something you can expect will happen. And it did.

How rude.

I guess I would have reacted the same in such a situation, so I can’t really say I blame them, but still, it’s incredibly nerve-wracking.

Speaking out of my own experience, this is the most one-ways in one town that I have ever seen!

How do people not get confused?

But I am happy to report that I have not driven down a single one-way in the opposite direction for quite a few days now.

Progress.

I also had to learn which streets were avenues and which were streets… Another daunting challenge as I still sometimes struggle to remember.

But I am getting there, with the calm mentoring of my angelic colleagues might I add.

It sometimes feels like I am a first-grader being gently tutored in the art of not driving down one-ways.

But, thus far, I have mastered it.

Now, for learning not be in a turn-only lane when I want to go straight…

Here goes…
