Rename Springs to 50/50

Everything gets half done!

We must really look to renaming our town 50/50. Everything gets half done!

A water leak in a road will be fixed but the road is never re-tarred.

Street lights get repaired – but then stay on 24 hours a day.

Road repairs – a pothole is repaired but 100 metres down the same road is another one (or two) which is left!

A road stormwater drain gets re-concreted but in the next block on the same road a truck has driven over the corner and the structure has collapsed, stopping water from draining off the road and it’s also left.

In Phoenix Road, just as one enters the Selcourt Closure, are lots and lots of potholes (and also as one approaches from Coaton Avenue and further along into the enclosure) that have been there for at least four months and occasionally one or two will be filled in, but the rest remain.

The whole road should be done and completed then the next road tackled but no, we only get 50/50 service in Springs!

I congratulate the council for finally fixing the street lights at the corner of Kafue Road and Lyndhurst Avenue for the second time but again – they are on 24 hours a day!

The major street light programme to do the road parallel to the N17 – from Tonk Meter Road to Rietfontein Road has been ongoing for quite some time and one really questions whether the cost makes any sense.

This road is only really used in the day by people going to and from work and there are only a few houses at the end of it so it does not make good financial sense and of course all the cables in that area get stolen over and over again so why do it?

I’m very interested to see how long the cable there lasts!

Bruce Gardner, Selcourt.
