Dog’s blog: Odd comings and goings

Last week there were some odd comings and goings at our house.

On Tuesday morning Alpha went off to work when it was still dark. Worse – he took a wheelie box with him that Mom had snuck some clothes into.
Did not bother getting off the bed to say goodbye. Was cold – I was snuggled up warm and toasty on their bed. Plus Mom was still in her PJs so the chance of going for a walk at the same time was nonexistent.
Mom charged upstairs and leapt back into bed. We thought we’d have an extra nap but as it turned out, we would not.
The phone rang 10 minutes later. Could hear Alpha barking in the background. Mom leapt out of bed and scrambled into some clothes.
Looked at her. “What? No shower today?”
“No time Fudgie. Alpha’s dinged his car. He’s coming back home. We need to take him to the station so he can get to where he’s going in time.”
“Dinged his precious little car that I’m not allowed to drive in? My tickly toe-nails! That was very careless of him.”
Mom gave me a bit of a skeef look. “Oi! At least he’s not hurt. Do you want to come with?”
What a question. Of course I want to go… anywhere.
Mind you – we went via via to the station. Discovered where a couple of different police stations were first because Alpha had to be a good Professor Pants and report his accident.
An hour later we finally dropped him off at the Gautrain and off he went to Jo’burg.
Mom and I spent a few days at home alone. Then on Thursday she started acting a bit dodgier than usual. Kept feeding me extra titbits and giving me cuddles.
Figured out she was up to no good somewhere along the line… and how right I was. She loaded my baskie and duvet into the car, gathered up all my balls and toys and ushered me into the back seat.
Twit dog that I am – I leapt in without a thought.
Was only when we drove through the gates and I spotted the big fluffy ostrich that I twigged. “Nooooooo…. I’m being left in the kennels again.”
They went to Cape Town for our Puppy’s first birthday. Without me. How rude.
