Karate championship showcases skill and spirit
The friendly brought together athletes to showcase their skills and promote sportsmanship.

KWF Springs, the karate club on Ermelo Road, participated in a recent friendly karate championship.
Twenty-eight club members participated in the championship, hosted by sensei Chris Anthony at the Brakpan Indoor Sports Centre.
Fanie du Plessis from KWF thanked Anthony for hosting the event and inviting them to participate.
“Our members did well, and I am proud of everyone that participated.”
The results are:
Novice white and yellow belts:
- Kaleb Lotter – bronze and silver
- Declan Materin – two golds
- Armand Nieuwoudt – bronze
- Tanaka Makiwa – two bronzes
- Owenkosi Moyeni – two bronzes
- Asimbonge Nhlapo – bronze and silver
- Kaleb Walker – silver.
- Intermediate orange and green belts
- Caylum Bedingfield – bronze
- Desire Muhlungu – gold and two bronzes
- Tinike Foster Bronze – gold and bronze
- Uminathi Mudau – gold and bronze
- Privadh Sukhram – two bronzes
- Sphiwe Mthombeni – bronze and silver.
Advanced blue and purple belts:
- Bryan Kapp – silver and gold
- Dewandre van Tonder – bronze and silver
- Duan Coetzee – three bronzes
- Meetesh Kunver – bronze and silver
- Theodore van Eck – silver
- Jazmin Conradie – gold and bronze
