No injuries in mall fire

Swift response saw the blaze promptly contained.

There were no injuries after a fire broke out at the Mall@Carnival yesterday evening (September 5).

According to reports, the fire started in the kitchen of a fast food restaurant. The Brakpan Herald understands the fire was contained to the restaurant and extinguished at around 20:10.

The kitchen is reported to be severely damaged, while another restaurant was reported to have suffered smoke damage. SecureFire and Ekurhuleni Emergency Services were on scene.

“The community’s swift and coordinated response to the Mall@Carnival fire is a testament to the strength and professionalism of Brakpan’s local services and volunteers,” said PR Clr Riaan van Zyl.
