Rising star seeks opportunity after facing financial hurdles

"I won't give up on my dreams. I want to make a better life for myself and my family. Please, help me make it happen," says 19-year-old Manqoba Mkhize.

At just 19 years old, soccer player Manqoba Mkhize is facing an uphill battle in his quest to turn his passion into a professional career.

Hailing from Eastvale, Manqoba’s soccer journey began at the age of six when he played with friends on the streets.

“A coach spotted me and invited me to join his U11 team, and that’s when my passion for the sport ignited,” Manqoba said.

Manqoba remarks that he has always dreamed of showcasing his skills on an international stage as he drew inspiration from iconic players such as Lionel Messi and Frenkie de Jong.

However, his aspirations faced a significant setback in 2022 when he lost the opportunity to study and play soccer at Brusa Sports Institute in the UK due to insufficient funds.

Manqoba Mkhize remarks that he has always dreamed of showcasing his soccer skills.

Despite his relentless efforts to raise the necessary funds or secure a sponsor, the financial barriers proved unconquerable.

Last year, Manqoba played for Moroka Swallows DStv Diski Challenge (DDC), further honing his skills and proving his talent on the field.

He further received an invitation from a Spanish team for trials, but once again, financial constraints prevented his chance to advance his career.

“My ultimate goal is to play overseas and make my family proud,” Manqoba shared.

“I’ve always dreamed of this since I was a child, and I need help from someone with connections to agents or soccer teams abroad to help me reach my dream.

“My parents are both unemployed and cannot afford to support my ambitions. I am reaching out to anyone who might assist me in pursuing my dreams or sponsor me so I can reapply to Brusa Sports Institute or other institutions.”

Manqoba says his determination remains unshaken despite the challenges he faces.

“I am committed to improving my life and the lives of my family through soccer.”

He urges anyone who can offer assistance to reach out to him on 069 219 7233.
