Selcourt Primary’s gymnastics star shines on international stage

The life and tumbles of Selcourt Primary School learner, Koketso Aphane.

Koketso Aphane, an exceptionally driven learner from Selcourt Primary School, has been capturing the spotlight in the gymnastics arena with his impressive achievements.

Beginning his gymnastics and aerialnastics journey in 2016, during his Grade One year, Koketso won the admiration of his teachers with his extraordinary talent and dedication.

“Koketso’s hard work was recognised in 2023 when he obtained full colours at Selcourt Primary School for his performances on various apparatus, including the bench, floor tumbling, and trampoline,” said school principal Shaun Mons.

“This year, his progress continued as he secured a second-place finish in floor tumbling,” said Mons.

The culmination of Koketso’s efforts came earlier this year, when he excelled in tumbling, earning a first-place trophy.

His achievements were further highlighted at the South Africa versus Mauritius International Gymnastics competition, where he claimed first place in tumbling and a third in trampoline.

“Koketso’s success underscores his role as a true ambassador and champion of gymnastics.”
