Local dancers sweep DTMA Awards

Dancers from Dance Directions with Mariska secured numerous awards, including first-place finishes and special recognitions, paving the way for a promising national competition in September.

Dancers from Dance Directions with Mariska recently showcased their talents at the Dance Talent and Model Association (DTMA) competition held on July 13 and 14.

The event was a significant opportunity for participants to earn their provincial colours and qualify for the national championships in September.

According to dance instructor Mariska Wolmarans, all dancers needed to achieve a minimum score of 83% to qualify, and each of her students met this requirement.

“I am proud of all my students for making it to the nationals,” said Mariska.

“I do my best to pass on the love and spirit of dance and to bring out the best in my students.”
