WATCH: Over 200 arrested in high-density operation

Among those arrested during the high-density operation yesterday on Paul Kruger Highway were five suspects for drug-related offences, 24 for being undocumented, four for selling liquor without a licence, and five for violating the Psira Act.

Ekurhuleni district commissioner Major General Anna Sithole, along with senior SAPS management, led a successful multi-disciplinary high-density operation along Paul Kruger Highway in Dersley yesterday.

The operation, which aimed to address a surge in house robberies, car hijackings, and vehicle thefts, saw a significant show of force to assert the authority of law enforcement in the area.

The integrated operation involved collaboration with Home Affairs, EMPD, Gauteng Traffic Police, and Springs CPF.

Sithole said since the initiation of these high-density operations in Springs, there has been a notable decrease in murder, attempted murder, assault (GBH), and both property and contact crimes.

“However, car hijacking, house robberies, and theft of and from motor vehicles remain persistent challenges.”
