College awards two scholarships to residents

The college will award more scholarships as time goes by.

Comtech College, a private college in the Springs CBD, has awarded two individuals from Ward 75 with full tuition scholarships.

Tshepo Moemane and Kamogelo Mqocwa are future Comtech students and will study electrical engineering and business assistance, respectively.

Ward 75 Clr Charmaine de Kock expressed her gratitude to the college for awarding two scholarships instead of one as was initially planned.

“It is a fantastic opportunity for the learners to move forward with their education and studies, which is crucial today.

“Unfortunately, we can’t grant everyone these scholarships, but the two chosen are just as deserving.”

Fanisa Ncube, the owner and campus manager of the school, says he aims to develop the youth of Springs.

“Our purpose with this contribution is to give back to the community and encourage the community to put in the effort.”

He says more students will benefit from the scholarship fund.

“This scholarship will continue annually. The budget allocated to this scholarship is R1m.”

Deputy campus manager Mhla Ndlovu says unsuccessful scholarship applicants should not become despondent.

“For the ones who are unsuccessful, it is not the end of the road. You will receive your education at a discounted price should you wish to continue your journey with us.”

The recipients expressed gratitude when they spoke about their socio-economic constraints while trying to get an education.

“We’d like to thank the councillor for giving us the chance to extend these opportunities to the youth,” says Ncube.

De Kock gave the recipients and the other candidates advice for their future.

“Never let anyone get in the way of fulfilling your dreams. Don’t give up.”
