Bakerton residents receive food relief during Ramadan

Households in Bakerton have been helped with food security for the month of Ramadan.

Four hundred food hampers were distributed to those in need for the month of Ramadan in Bakerton recently.

The initiative is part of the yearly contribution by King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief (KS Relief), which serves disadvantaged communities under the project The Ramadan Food Basket.

The project is part of many similar programmes implemented in various parts of the world during the month of Ramadan.

“Beneficiaries are chosen on recommendations from local community leaders to provide the underprivileged with food security,” says project coordinator Siraaj Chikwato.

The hampers contain essential food items that suffice a household for up to a month.

“It is hoped this initiative will bring ease to the thousands of needy families experiencing daily challenges in securing their next meal because of financial and other constraints.”
