EMPD continues to spread awareness in informal settlements

The EMPD's Social Crime Prevention Units seek to continue to raise awareness in disadvantaged communities about GBV and the protection of women and children.

The Hollywood and Jacobs Farm informal settlements in Springs benefitted from the EMPD’s human rights and gender-based violence (GBV) campaign recently.

The campaign led by the EMPD’s Social Crime Prevention Unit (SCPU) is an initiative aimed at influencing public opinion to modify collective behaviour.

The SCPU officers provided expertise and information on these social problems in the informal settlements, particularly after observing that GBV is a significant issue in disadvantaged communities.

The EMPD applauded the community in both areas for its positive responsiveness and participation in the outreach programme.

The officers make rounds in communities to continue raising awareness of GBV and the value of safeguarding women and children.
