Firearms found hidden in spare tyre
Two firearms were stashed in a spare wheel during a patrol shutdown along the N17 in Springs on Tuesday.
Gauteng Highway Patrol recovered two firearms stashed inside a Toyota Fortuner spare wheel on the N17 in Springs on Tuesday evening.
The officers stopped the suspicious-looking vehicle with four men inside during a highway patrol.
Springs police spokesperson Sergeant Themba Tshabalala said the officers searched the vehicle and found the two firearms hidden inside the spare wheel.
“They were all arrested after none of them could account for the firearms,” said Tshabalala.
The firearms were confiscated and taken to the forensic science lab (FSL) for ballistic investigation.
The four men will appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
