Home Affairs opens for longer for ID collections

The Department of Home Affairs has extended its hours to accommodate ID collections and applications.

The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) will open its offices for two extra hours on February 2 from 16:00 to 18:00.

On February 3 and 4, the offices will open for nine hours, from 08:00 to 17:00.

This is so citizens can collect their IDs for the February 3 and 4 2024 Voter Registration Weekend.

The DHA services on offer are applications and collections of IDs and applications for Temporary Identification Certificates (TICs).

TICs cost R70 and get issued on the spot.

These documents will allow eligible voters to register for this year’s national and provincial elections.

In addition, clients can now book collection appointments before visiting the DHA offices through the Branch Appointment Booking System (BABS), available on the DHA Website – www.dha.gov.za -through this link: BABS.

Alternatively, clients can visit their offices without a booking.

“We want to assist those who need an ID to participate in the voter registration. It is an opportunity to come and collect their documents.

“We especially encourage young people to come to our offices from Friday afternoon and over the weekend to apply or collect their documents,” said deputy minister Njabulo Nzuza.

They encourage clients who have applied for ID documents and have been waiting for three weeks or more to seize this opportunity by visiting their Home Affairs office to collect the critical documents.
