A body was discovered in an open field near Etwatwa informal settlement on Saturday morning.
It was found in a six meter hole covered in a green comforter with the legs exposed.
The SAPS rescue team was contacted to assist in lifting the body to the surface.
It was identified as a male.
The man was wearing brown trousers and a branded sneaker on his right foot.
Upon inspection it was revealed that there were two cuts to the head and multiple injuries on the front and back.
There was no visible blood on the scene.
The person was declared dead by EMS.
