One arrested after butchery armed robbery

One man was arrested, while two took off with R19 400 during an armed robbery at a butchery in Strubenvale.

The Springs Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) arrested a man in connection with an armed robbery at a butchery on Largo Road in Strubenvale on Wednesday morning.

According to Springs SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Themba Tshabalala, the complainant alleged two armed men attacked him as he was leaving the butchery in a truck.

“He alleges the men pulled him out of the truck and demanded money, which was behind the seat,” said Tshabalala.

“The armed men fled the scene in a silver grey i20 Hyundai with the registration HF 95 VL GP, taking approximately R19 400 with them.”

Tshabalala added the complainant went back to the butchery, looking for help.

Upon viewing the camera footage, they saw a third man walking out of the butchery, trying to escape after being stopped.

The CPU, who was nearby, caught him. No shots were fired and no injuries were reported.
