Take note of scam: city’s jobs are not for sale

The City of Ekurhuleni is concerned about a rise in employment scams using the city's name.

The City of Ekurhuleni warns the public to be aware and vigilant of job scams that are falsely presented as the city’s recruitment process. The city’s job application process is not conducted through social media platforms or social media messaging and they urge the public to be vigilant and not fall for these scams.

The jobs are advertised on the city’s website (www.ekurhuleni.gov.za/vacancies) where permanent, temporal and fixed-term positions are advertised.

Points to note:
• All positions are advertised on the city’s website https://www.ekurhuleni.gov.za/residents/careers.html.

• The scammers lure the public to call them on their cell numbers where they are made to pay monies in exchange for false job opportunities for drivers and cleaners among others.

• The city does not advertise jobs on social media platforms.

• The city would never ask you for money in exchange for a job interview.

• The city’s official office telephone numbers start with 011 999.

• Any communication and adverts for vacancies will carry the City of Ekurhuleni logo and not Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality.

• Communication from the city is through official email, telephone as well as face-to-face interaction.

The City of Ekurhuleni strongly advises the public to be cautious and not respond to unsolicited employment offers or requests for information from individuals claiming to work for or be associated with the City.
