CoE: get screened for cancer

Women can have regular check-ups with qualified professionals at the city’s clinics.

According to the health calendar of events, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This year’s theme is, Keeping her in the picture, a message aimed at supporting women with and impacted by breast cancer.

According to statistics, the prevalence of breast cancer among South Africans is increasing, and it is one of the most common cancers among women.

They also found it most prevalent among white and Asian women and second among African and coloured women.

Overall, South African women have a one in nine chance of getting breast cancer.

As such, the CoE calls for all women to regularly have screenings for various cancers by visiting all the city’s clinics with qualified professionals who can detect lumps or any abnormalities in their breasts.

The clinics’ operating hours are 08:00 to 16:30 from Monday to Friday. No appointment is needed.
