Here’s what to do in Springs

Here is a look at what is going on in Springs.

• September 22
Vitiligo Assist invites everyone to its charity golf tournament. This is a fun and friendly competition as the organisation raises funds and creates awareness for persons living with vitiligo.

The event will take place at State Mines Golf Club in Brakpan. Tee-off starts at 11:15. For more information or to register for the event, contact Amelda du Toit 084 407 9904 or email info.vitiligoassist@gmail.com.

• September 22 and 25
The Ekurhuleni Community Action team calls on local businesses to participate in a clean-up on September 22.

This is a special request for all businesses to dedicate two hours to clean up different parts of Springs. Another clean-up will take place on September 25. Both programmes start at 07:00.

To volunteer as a street coordinator or as clean-up volunteer for the big day, here are three ways to participate:

• September 23
Trinity Methodist Church has bingo in the Church Hall at 13.00. Tickets are R80 and include lasagne, salads plus dessert for lunch plus prizes and vouchers. Cold drinks, tea, coffee and cake will be on sale. All proceeds go to the church. For more information, call Kathy Preston on 083 377 7709.

• September 26
Tutela Springs invites members of the community, congregations and local businesses to join them for their AGM. It starts at 18:00 and will be held at NG Church Springs-North, 47 Botha Street, Geduld Ext, Springs. RSVP at Hester Vigne on 011 811 0221 by latest September 21.

• September 29
Life Springs Parkland Hospital invites you for a free check-up in observation of World Heart Day, as your health is important. Check-ups will commence from 10:30 until 14:00 at the main entrance of the hospital. Make your way to Life Springs Parkland Hospital, 15 Springs West Road, Pollak Park. • September 30
Cupcakes of Hope calls upon Springsites to join them in raising funds for children with cancer. The fundraiser will be held at Springs Mall, outside Dis-Chem and will run from 09:00 until 13:00. For more information, contact Brigitte Pita 082 541 7156.

• 7 Oktober
Die Nederduitsch Hervormde Kerk Springs-Oos hou ‘n Osbraai by Die Grasdak op Kingsway Straat 74 in Devon. Daar sal kos en stalletjies wees, sowel as verskeie kunstenaars deur die dag. Vir navrae of om ‘n stalletjie te bespreek, skakel Jana by 066 303 7095.

The events that take place every week

• Meat World Springs hosts a food market every Saturday from 06:30 to 14:00. With this, Meat World Springs is calling on all vendors to apply to participate. Send your name, ID number and the name and a photograph of the food product you wish to sell for consideration to marketing@meatworld.co.za or call 011 815 1494.

• The Springs Farmers’ Market runs every Saturday. Buy fresh, affordable produce, arts and crafts, delicious food and milk. The venue is Den Akker at President’s Park and it runs from 07:00 to 13:00.
