Man arrested after young teacher’s death
An arrest was made in Kamogelo Moepye’s murder case.
Kwa-Thema – A 31-year-old man was arrested in the murder investigation of Kamogelo Moepye (26).
Moepye succumbed to her injuries on September 2 at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.
She died after the room she slept in at her boyfriend’s home caught fire, suspected to be caused by a heater. She sustained third-degree burns on August 19.
Initially, the SAPS opened an inquest docket.
According to police spokesperson Captain Neldah Sekgobela, the man was arrested on September 4.
He appeared in the Springs Magistrate’s Court on September 6.
Sekgobela confirmed that the man has since been released as the police continue with the investigation.
